TULSA, Okla. — Remember the call on the community to write notes and letters for people with developmental disabilities?

There is an exciting update!

The Tulsa Advocates for the Rights of Citizens with Developmental Disabilities (TARC) collected more than 1,800 cards, notes and drawings from people across Oklahoma since the beginning of June.

These "Hope Notes" with encouraging messages will be delivered to group homes and intermediate care facilities that house people with developmental disabilities who might have been isolated during the pandemic.

For many, it's a sweet gesture with a lasting message.

"I was happy, joy inside, didn't expect it," explains Dwayne Boyd, a client of TARC, "Make sure everybody knows there's hope."

The organization started distributing the letters last week.
