Brothers Chris and Robby Davis began making gourmet Popsicles to sell at events near Guthrie Green and since June have taken first place in the Tulsa Startup Series along with a $15,000 grand prize.
The Tulsa Startup Series, partnered with the Lobeck Taylor Family Foundation and Tulsa Community College, hosts Demo Day for growing entrepreneurs and local businesses to help give a boost to the active small business community.
Each entrepreneur who enters into the competition presents a business proposal in front of a panel of judges and in the end the top three presentations takes home cash prizes to help bolster their businesses.
Chris Davis, who worked with Coca-Cola for more than six years, says the idea to start the business was given to him when he lived in Dallas and he ultimately wanted to bring a unique food to his hometown.
“One thing that we're very interested in is just making Tulsa just a cool city to live in and we think cool cities need cool food businesses,” Davis said.
The Pop House is known for blending creative flavors within an ice pop to enhance the taste buds of their customers. Popular flavors include strawberry cream, caramel apple, banana nutella, and even pumpkin pie.
Although the $15,000 cash prize will certainly aid the company, Chris and Robby hope to continue and expand with physical locations in the near future and make Pop House a fixture in the Tulsa community.
“the $15,000 is really the money we need to develop that flagship store and the goal is to then be able replicate that across the region,” Davis said.
