TULSA - Authorities say a victim has died after being shot in the upper torso at a north Tulsa apartment complex and a standoff did not lead to the arrest of the suspect in the shooting.

U.S. marshals and Tulsa Police investigating the shooting at Mohawk Manor said a man fled after the incident and they surrounded what they believed to be an apartment where the suspect's family lived.

Police say the victim was in his 20s and died at the hospital.

Authorities went into standoff mode and say they were working on the understanding that the suspect may be in the apartment.

Police escorted neighbors out of the complex. Officers in tactical gear were on the scene, but say they didn't make contact with the suspect. Officials asked the media to move back from the scene.

Homicide took over the investigation mid-afternoon and said they could have more information later in the day.
