Search dog from Ground Zero celebrates birthday

Posted

It’s not every day that New Yorkers ban together to celebrate the 16th birthday of a dog, but in Bretagne’s case, it was something they couldn’t miss out on.

Bretagne (pronounced Brittany) is the last known surviving search dog who worked at Ground Zero after the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, according to the Today Show’s website.

The golden retriever received the golden treatment for her big day.

She was able to recline on soft beds at a Central Park hotel, given a gourmet burger to chomp down on, a vintage New York City taxi gave her the ride of a lifetime, she visited a doggie splash park, played with oodles of new toys and inhaled a dog-friendly cake all while wearing a festive birthday party hat.

Happy Birthday, Bretagne! We appreciate all you do!
