TULSA-- Nearly 200 people packed All Souls Unitarian Church in Brookside Thursday night for a forum on racism.

The event is in response to a what event organizers are calling a current civil rights movement.

The forum was called What Are White People to Do?

The goal was to inspire white people to take action and become involved in solving what some are calling a culture of systemic racism.

“We've had our own system of apartheid in this country for hundreds of years and we've never really openly addressed that,” said Rev. Barbara Prose.

Panelists talked about the history of racism in the United States and how it helped shape where we are now as nation.

“I’ve encountered people who've said we've studied it, we've got Martin Luther King day we're done and that's some of the mindsets that I’ve been hearing, isn't that regrettable?” said Judy Turner of Tulsa.

Many of the speakers asking white people to be conscious of the racial issues that still divide Tulsa.

Seven panelists addressed the crowd. It ended with a question and answer session meant to give those in attendance the tools they can use to be aware of racism and how to end it.
