Hillary Clinton gave her concession speechon Wednesday to a shocked nation but since then, she’s kept mostly off the radar until Thursday.
White Plains, New Yorker Margot Gerster, who voted for Clinton, posted on Facebook saying she was “heartbroken” after the election results, so she took a hike. She says she was walking with her infant daughter in the woods of upstate New York, trying to heal when none other than Hillary herself appeared.
Hillary was walking with Bill Clinton, seemingly doing the same thing Gerster was in the Chappaqua woods.
“We were the only ones there and it was so beautiful and relaxing,” Gerster wrote.
Gerster says the two talked and hugged and the young mother took the meeting as a sign.
“I got to hug her and talk to her and tell her that one of my most proudest moments as a mother was taking Phoebe with me to vote for her,” Gerster wrote in her post. “She hugged me and thanked me and we exchanged some sweet pleasantries and then I let them continue their walk. Now, I’m not one for signs but I think ill definitely take this one. So proud.”
"(My) intention (in posting) was to make people smile," Gerster told CNN later Thursday."It was a very dark day yesterday, I just feel like the fact I ran into Hillary while I was trying to clear my head, was sort of like a hopeful sign."
"I hope the picture brings hope to people who need it," Gerster added.
