TULSA - Green Country students have been preparing and competing for months in preparation for the Scripps Green Country Regional Spelling Bee in Tulsa Saturday morning.
Fifth grader Matthew Gogul from Bartlesville is competing for the third time.
“It says he doesn’t mind the work, he does enjoy it, and he’s a competitor. He likes to compete," his dad Kerry Creager said.
Matthew placed third his first time around, and says he plans to keep coming back.
“I think for the next three years until I’m in eighth grade I’m going to keep coming. You’ll be seeing me every year hopefully," he said.
Competitors in Saturday's bee are fighting for a spot in the Scripps National Bee in Washington D.C.
