Johnny Hall says he heard screams outside his window at around 8:30 on October 10. He says he went outside to investigate, and saw a woman being raped across the street.
"She was screaming, 'help me, I'm being raped,'" Hall recounts.
Hall says in an empty, closed-gate parking lot, he saw a man on top of a woman pinned up against a chain-link fence. He walked up to confront the man, unsure if he was concealing a weapon.
The attacker walked toward Hall, away from the woman. Hall says he punched the man, sending him to the ground, and held him there. Hall then called 9-1-1, and handed the phone to the woman while he restrained the attacker.
"It was crazy that someone could have that type of horrible crime in their heart," Hall said. "In the daytime at that."
The attacker was arrested once police arrived, and has been charged with rape by instrumentation and indecent exposure.
