TULSA - It takes more than 1,400 workers to accommodate the more than one million people expected to make their way through the Tulsa State Fair.
About 1,455 Tulsa State Fair staff and American Midway workers are at the fair doing everything from daily set-up to clean-up and everything in between. That doesn’t include people selling food and other concessions, or exhibitors.
But every one of those workers plays a role in making all of it possible.
One of those employees is Christopher Manfried of New York. He travels the country working at fairs mostly on the East Coast. This year is his first trip to Tulsa.
“I get to travel the country see all sorts of cool people. I've never been to Oklahoma before and I love it here,” Manfried said.
Manfreid says he works up to 16 hours a day during the fair. He stays in “bunk houses” located on the fairgrounds.
"Everybody's amazing. Everybody's got like manners, nobody's yelling at me. Nobody's mad, I just love this area," he said.
