Garry Marshall, writer and director, dies at age 81

Legendary writer and director Garry Marshallpassed away Tuesday at the age of 81, reports NBC News.

"Happy Days," "The Odd Couple," "Laverne & Shirley" and "Mork & Mindy" were just a few of the shows that Marshall took part in, but he was also known for his movies.

The director and writer died in a hospital of complications from pneumonia after having a stroke, says NBC.

A memorial is being planned for what would have been Marshall’s 82 birthday, according to his publicist, but funeral services held I the upcoming days will be private.
