Facebook fashion deals: Taniya Wright reviews whether or not they're worth the price

If you scroll through your Facebook feed there's a good chance you've seen those ads promising fashionable clothing at ultra-low prices.

2 Works for You Today Anchor Taniya Wright picked a few online bargains to find out if they offer designer deals or a fashion fails.

Wright ordered a sweater from NastyDress, a hoodie from DressLily and a Dress from Shein. Each item was less than $25 and each shipped from China.

Wright paid a fee for faster delivery, but the items arrived more than a week after the expected delivery date.
She took the garments to a Tulsa clothing designer, who said with some of these “too good to be true” online deals, you get what you pay for.

"You get a sweater for pennies but the quality is not there," said Kenya Carter, who says although online shopping is convenient, not all clothing sites deliver fine fashions.

Wright says she typically wears a size medium, but the medium DressLily sweater she ordered was too large. She also said the yarn at the bottom of the sweater was fraying.

She was expecting the hoodie to feature leather accents, but found they were plastic. The website didn’t indicate whether the accents were real or fake leather.

As for comfort and utility, Wright said, “The material of the hoodie was comfortable but the zipper was a little tough to zip up.”

Wright reached out to DressLily and NastyDress about the quality of the clothing. Both companies offered either a store credit of a full refund. They told her she didn’t need to send products back. Instead, they suggested she donate them to charity – which 2 Works for You had already planned.

The dress from Shein never arrived. After contacting the company they said she could either have a store credit or a refund.

Wright’s advice to people searching for great fashion deals online: “Buyer beware of those Facebook ads that seem too good to be true!”
