OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Two men who escaped from a prison near Vinita have been found by police.

The Oklahoman reports that 33-year-old Jason Pedro and 38-year-old John Shepherd were arrested Sunday afternoon after walking away from the minimum-security Northeast Oklahoma Correctional Center on Nov. 23.

Police found Pedro in central Oklahoma City after they received a call about a disturbance in the area. Officers then learned that Shepherd was in a nearby home.

Officer Travis Vernier says both fugitives attempted to leave the scene in a car as officers arrived, but they were stopped and arrested.

Corrections records show Pedro was serving time for multiple convictions, including knowingly concealing stolen property and possessing a firearm after a felony conviction. Shepherd was serving time for possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of burglary tools.
