MUSKOGEE, Okla. — Gamers around the world unite to save the USS Batfish submarine.

Players of the World of Warships naval-combat video game are donating money through the game, to help cover the cost of repairing damage from the spring floods.

The fundraiser opened Tuesday. Already gamers have contributed $32,000.

"It's very important that we are working to preserve these ships for their history. It's part of our mission, to ensure that future generations can fully understand and remember those who served aboard those ships, and for everyone to appreciate the history that those ships have brought,” says Ray Hazlip, Regional Publishing Producer for World of Warships.

For those who do not play the game, donations are also collected on GoFundMe.
