TULSA -- Crumbling concrete supports being held together by straps. That's just one of the problems we uncovered at parking garage at the Promenade Mall in Tulsa.
The City of Tulsa is now investigating safety concerns at the Promenade Mall parking garages.
2 Works For You found holes in the concrete on one of the parking garages and chunks of concrete are falling down through at least one of those holes.
There is also an approximately 60 foot concrete pillar that is cracked and being held together by a strap. The pillar is on a five story parking deck on mall property.
"That's pretty crazy that's not safe at all especially when you see that it's you know down in the ground where it's fell people should not be parking in here," said shopper Destiny Collins.
A concrete contractor hired in May to fix some of the issues says they made management aware of what the contractors are calling a serious safety issue.
The city of Tulsa does not routinely inspect buildings or parking structures-- in cases like this it's the fire marshal who investigates if a complaint is filed.
Our calls to the city about the issue prompted them to send out the fire department to inspect the concrete. A fire inspector made the mall management put up cones and caution tape to keep people away from one of the cracked pillars.
The city does not inspect existing parking garages or buildings, inspectors only look at the structures when they are originally built.
Calls to the Promenade Mall's management have not been returned.
