One man is dead after being struck by a car from behind while he was riding his bike early Saturday morning.

Tulsa Police say Melvin Guess, 57, was riding southbound along Southwest Boulevard near 21st Street when a car came up behind him and hit him. Police say Guess wasn't wearing a helmet, and did not have lights or reflectors on his bike.

The accident happened around 2:00 a.m. as Guess was riding his bike with traffic, but in the left lane, according to police. Police say he died after being taken to the hospital. The driver of the car was taken to the hospital for a blood draw, "due to her intoxicated state."
