Over 750 people in need will have a meal to eat thanks to the Easter Food Donation created by the Live Local Give Local organization.
Now in it's fourth year, the spring food program has fed thousands of families looking for a helping hand during the spring months and many of the recipients are working people struggling after a difficult winter.
Live Local Give Local founder, Hugh Robert, says many of the people the organization works with come from the middle-class.
“These are people, that a lot of them have two and three jobs or grandparents raising a second set of grand kids and they are trying. Sometime they just need a help up,” Robert said.
The 22 donated items included ham, mac and cheese, and even diapers for those with children who need a little extra help tackling expenses.
Bruce Sweet, who's lived in Tulsa for over 25 years says his wife's condition has made it difficult to find consistent work and he's grateful for the help.
“I've got a wife that I take care of and believe me it helps out, it helps out. She has had her problems, but the point is it's one hand washing the other, everybody taking care of each other and having each others back,” Sweet said.
The spring food program is now in five Oklahoma cities and three states.
