Jimmy John's is the latest national company affected by a potential credit and debit card data breach.
A Tulsa Jimmy Johns, located at 1931 S. Yale Ave. Suite A, was among those reported to be breached.
According to the company's Wednesday announcement, it was informed of the possible breach on July 30. An investigation involving third-party experts began immediately, the company said, but it appears that customer information remained exposed during that investigation.
The company believes the data "was compromised after an intruder stole log-in credentials from Jimmy John’s point-of-sale vendor and used these stolen credentials to remotely access the point-of-sale systems at some corporate and franchised locations between June 16, 2014 and September 5, 2014."
Two-hundred sixteen stores, where customers swiped their cards, were affected by the breach. Information exposed might include the card number and in some cases the cardholder's name, verification code, and/or the card's expiration date, the company stated.
