Jimmy John's is the latest national company affected by a potential credit and debit card data breach.

A Tulsa Jimmy Johns, located at 1931 S. Yale Ave. Suite  A, was among those reported to be breached.

According to thecompany's Wednesday announcement, it was informed of the possible breach on July 30. An investigation involving third-party experts began immediately, the company said, but it appears that customer information remained exposed during that investigation.

The company believes the data "was compromised after an intruder stole log-in credentials from Jimmy John’s point-of-sale vendor and used these stolen credentials to remotely access the point-of-sale systems at some corporate and franchised locations between June 16, 2014 and September 5, 2014."

Two-hundred sixteen stores, where customers swiped their cards, were affected by the breach. Information exposed might include the card number and in some cases the cardholder's name, verification code, and/or the card's expiration date, the company stated.

Affected stores in Oklahoma and dates affected:

  • Store 9045 Stillwater , OK 217 S. Washington St.
  • Store 1524 Tulsa , OK 1931 S. Yale Ave. Ste. A
  • Store 2187 Enid , OK 2312 West Owen K Garriott Rd Spc E

Online purchases were not affected, the company said.

Jimmy John's said the security breach has now been contained, but recommends customers monitor their credit or debit card statements and credit reports.
