Sunday Brunch: Mattie Sloan shares her recipe for pumpkin bread french toast

It's time for a Fall favorite with a twist. Mattie Sloan stopped by to share her recipe for pumpkin bread french toast. YUM!1 Loaf prepared pumpkin bread

What you'll need:

  • 6 eggs, beaten well
  • 2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp. ground nutmeg
  • ¼ Cup Whole milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 4 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 Cup maple syrup

*Garnish with whipped cream, maple syrup and cinnamon or fresh fruit and honey.

Directions

  1. Cut pumpkin bread into slices and set aside.
  2. Whisk together eggs, cinnamon, nutmeg and milk and vanilla. Set aside in a medium bowl.
  3. Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  4. Place pumpkin slices gently into the egg mixture coating the outside but not pressing the slices into the mixture. Flip the slices over to coat the other side.
  5. Transfer the coated slices to the skillet and toast until golden, about 1 minute. Flip the toast over to the other side and cook another minute.
  6. Remove the French toast from the skillet and serve with whipped cream, maple syrup and cinnamon or fruit and honey.
