When most people think about succulents, they think of the tropical variety. They do well in the warmer months but will not last through our winters. However, there are over 400 different varieties of "hardy" succulents that will return year after year.
Paul James, with Southwood Landscape and Garden Center, says that they are often referred to as "stone crop" because they are as easy to grow as a stone!
