TULSA, Okla. — Chief Meteorologist Mike Collier is signing off from 2 News Oklahoma.

On Wednesday, Collier announced plans to start a new chapter of his life away from meteorology.

“Mike has been an important part of 2 News for the last seven years,” said station manager Whitney Grover. “He’s kept our families and communities safe and has been a loyal advocate of our mission and our commitment to Oklahoma. We are very sad to see him go but know that he will do great things in the future.”

Collier started working in weather in Green Country as an intern and said he fell in love with weather at just 7, when he visited 2 News as a cub scout. He’s been chief meteorologist at 2 News for seven years, but said he’s making a life change to spend more time with his family and explore new opportunities.

“I love the KJRH family, but ultimately I need to put my family first and be there for them,” Collier said.

Collier’s last day is April 30.
