A trip to the YMCA for a workout turned into an unexpected rescue operation.

Justin Karp decided to broadcast his unfortunate experience to all of his friends using Facebook Live.

"I’m locked in the bathroom at the YMCA in Pleasant Hill. The deadbolt broke. Just trying to get a workout in,” Karp said during his livestream.

He gave a play-by-play account of what was happening as the YMCA staff tried to open the door from the outside.

He explained that the deadbolt worked when he went into the bathroom but didn’t unlock when he tried to leave.

After a while, the Contra Costa County Fire Department arrives and used an ax to break open the door and get him out.

Karp was stuck in the small bathroom for more than 30 minutes but stayed at the gym afterward to do his workout.
