As the stars pick out their gowns and tuxes for the Academy Awards, crews are hard at work outside the Dolby Theater in Hollywood setting up.
Hollywood Boulevard has been shut down as tents go up, and the gold statues are put in place. The 89th annual Academy Awards will be handed out Sunday night.
La La Land is expected to walk away the winner for Best Picture, with Emma Stone as the front-runner for Best Actress.
Denzel Washington is the favorite to win Best Actor for his performance in Fences. And his co-star Viola Davis is also expected to win in the Best Supporting Actress category.
There's an Oklahoman who might walk away with an Oscar. Norman native Eric Heisserer is nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay for the film “Arrival.”
In all there have been 29 Oklahomans who have either been nominated or won an Academy Award. Two of the winners from the Sooner state are from Tulsa.
Tulsan Jennifer Jones won Best Actress for 1943’s “Song of Bernadette” while Tulsa filmmaker Blake Edwards won an honorary Oscar in 2004 for his body of work. Edwards was once married to Julie Andrews.
