TULSA — Another honor for Tulsa's Gathering Place. This time, internationally.
The park is one of 11 places around the world to receive the Urban Landscape Institute's Global Award of Excellence. The Gathering Place says it is a tribute to the creativity of those who designed it and made it what it is today. It also says the award is putting Tulsa on the international map.
"Well, it's really exciting for Tulsans," said Jeff Stava, director of The Gathering Place, LLC. "It's bringing a national, and now international, spotlight to Tulsa. And showcasing the beautiful park, but also the beautiful city that we have and the people who live here."
There were six other winners in the United States, three in Asia and one in Europe.
Sunday is the one-year anniversary of the opening of the The Gathering Place. Plans are underway for phases two and three of the park.
