TULSA, Okla. — With 'Who's Hiring' this morning, we are highlighting two positions in high demand at the Tulsa County Sheriffs Office.

Today we find out what qualifications you need to apply, and what they are looking for in good candidates.

Those two positions are detention officers, and certified deputies.

If you are 18, can pass a background check, have a high school diploma, or GED you qualify to apply.

For detention officers, Communication Director Casey Roebuck says they need someone who can physically and mentally handle the workload.

Deputies need to be cleet certified, and be good with people.

“We want someone with a passion to serve, who can be responsible to oversee a pod full of inmates, who can command presence to run the place with no issues,” Roebuck said.

Roebuck says their force of detention officers is extremely diverse.

They have retired law enforcement officers, veterans, fast food servers, or students, just graduated from high school.

“We want people to know that there are probably a lot of people out there that have lost their jobs that may have been in the service industry, working with our agency, you can’t get more essential that that, we have to run 24/7. The jail has to operate 24/7,"Roebuck said.

The application process generally takes a few weeks.

If accepted, they will send you to the academy, where you will train for about four weeks.
