COFFEYVILLE, Kansas -- After serving for more than 30 years, Coffeyville's fire chief took to Facebook Tuesday to announce his retirement.

Grimmett said in part “I am very thankful for the opportunity to work for the City of Coffeyville. Being employed by the fire department for 30 years has allowed me to raise a family and become involved in the community.”

Throughout his time serving with the department, Grimmett also says he received lots of support.

“One of the many things an effective leader needs in order to obtain success is support, and I say thank you to those who provided that support for the last 30 years.”

According to the post on Facebook, Grimmett's last day will be on September 23.
