TULSA - Police say during this time of year they see vehicle burglaries, purse snatching and larceny; they give ways to avoid falling victim to these crimes.

They say your car is a bigger target than you are in the store.

TPD Tips:

1. Don't leave anything in plain view in your car.

Take your personal items out of your car and take them with you. Also, try your best to park in well-lit lots.

2. Be aware of your surroundings.

Even if you don't feel you're in immediate danger, TPD says to report suspicious activity. They will have more officers in areas where people typically shop like 71st and Memorial, and 41st and Sheridan.

3. Shop in groups if you can help it.

Thieves are less likely to put themselves in a situation where there are witnesses.

4. Online, make sure you're shopping on secure sites.
