The 38th annual Linde Oktoberfest kicks off at Tulsa's River West Festival Park

TULSA - It’s the celebration that USA Today ranked in the top ten best Oktoberfest events in the nation!

The 38th annual Linde Oktoberfest kicks off Thursday evening at River West Festival Park. The dancing, eating and beer drinking will be going on at the park until October 23.

Opening night starts at 5 p.m. and will end at 11 p.m. The other days will start at 11 a.m. and end at 1 a.m. with Sunday being from noon to 6 p.m.

Tickets to enter cost $10 for Thursday night at the door and $7 in advance. Friday is “Family Friday” and until 4 p.m., admission is free. After 4 p.m. on Friday admission is $10 at the door and $7 in advance. Saturday and Sunday are both $10 at the door and $7 in advance.

Parking on the premises will cost from $10 to $20. There will be free shuttles picking up from different locations around town. In addition, there's a new downtown Express Shuttle going directly from the transit hub at South Denver to the festival site.

Shuttles run an hour before and after the festival, every 5-10 minutes. You can view all of the pickup locations here

FOOD:

One of the largest parts of Oktoberfest is the food and this year is no exception. There will be brats, sausages, schnitzel and strudel to just name a few. Remember, though, that if you wish to purchase food you must buy tokens or tickets!

BIER (BEER):

There will be close to 80 brands and over 300 taps at Oktoberfest, says the website. So grab your skeins and IDs! If you buy a commemorative Krug, then refills are $12 for one liter and $7 for a half liter.

ENTERTAINMENT:

Practice your “Chicken Dancing” skills and get ready to hear a mixture of German bands, country-western and even rock songs. Das Glockenspiel comes to at the Mittelpunkt Party Stage at the north end of the HauptStrasse. For a full list of entertainment schedules, click here. 

GAMES AND COMPETITIONS:

For those of you interested in more than just drinking and eating, there will be a MassKrug Carry competition, a Dachshund Dash and the Der Bier Barrel Race. 

ARTS AND FAMILY FUN:

There will also be several rides and art projects that will appease families of all ages. From sand art to Ferris Wheels, Oktoberfest is aiming to please everyone!
