Oklahomans said NO to State Question 777.

This was the measure that would have amended the state Constitution to guarantee the right to engage in farming and ranching.

The measure would have added Section 38 to Article II of the Oklahoma Constitution. It would have ensured:

  • The right to make use of agricultural technology
  • The right to make use of livestock procedures, and
  • The right to make use of ranching practices

The amendment would have also banned any new law regulating or prohibiting an agricultural practice unless the new law can be justified by a compelling state interest.

Former U.S. Senator Tom Coburn came out in support of 777.
