CLAREMORE, Okla. – A single arrest shed light on several recent bank robberies Tuesday, specifically one in Claremore, says police.

The woman, Sharlene Owens, was arrested on an unrelated charge but in the midst of questioning, authorities were able to link Owens to bank robberies in Claremore and Tulsa County.

Claremore police were searching for a suspect who used large glasses and a hood point to conceal their face and pointed a firearm, or “realistic looking imitation firearm” at a BancFirst bank teller, presenting a note.

Claremore police say that Owens confessed to the robbery saying she stole the handgun from her father. She also gave several specific details regarding the robbery: How she escaped, the comments made to the teller, as well as the disguise she was wearing.

While Owens reportedly told authorities the Claremore robbery was her first, she also told them she perpetrated robberies in Tulsa County, says Claremore police.
