TULSA -- Two men have received prison sentences in connection with a carjacking and shooting in December 2017.

Michael Newlin, 19, of Owasso, was sentenced to 32 years in prison, and Brandon Mendinghall, 24, of Stillwater, was sentenced to 16 years.

Officials said in Mendinghall's plea deal, he admitted to conspiring to rob a woman at gunpoint, steal the car she was driving and assist Newlin during a police pursuit on Dec. 26, 2017.

Officials said Newlin shot at an officer during the incident and also attempted to kill a witness in the case.

Both men will soon be transferred to a U.S. Bureau of Prison's facility.
