TULSA – One man is walking over 3 million steps to pay honor the lives of fallen police officers from around the country.

Derek Hardin plans to travel nearly 1,400 miles by foot to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington D.C. by this December.

Hardin, a Tulsa native, will start the journey on September 3, 2016 at the Tulsa Police Department Memorial located at 6066 66th Street North, reports Tulsa police.

Hardin’s friends set up a GoFundMe account for the event and all donations will go to the Concern of Police Survivors, C.O.P.S., says the Tulsa Police Department.
