Tulsa Police Department officer fires shots during pursuit; three suspects arrested

TULSA - A police officer opened fire on suspects during a chase early Thursday morning.

Police said around 1 a.m. an officer spotted a pickup leaving the QuikTrip at 31st and Sheridan at a high rate of speed, and initiated a pursuit.

The driver allegedly tried to get the pursuing officer to hit the vehicle during the chase.

The officer chasing then fired his weapon through his cruiser's windshield in an attempt to stop the truck, but the truck driver slammed on the brakes, causing the officer to hit it.

The crash disabled the police cruiser. The suspects then abandoned the pickup near 75th E. Ave. and 26th Pl.

Officers arrested three suspects, including the driver, but were unable to find a fourth person.

The officer hurt in the crash went to the hospital to be checked out for his injuries.
