TULSA (AP) -- A federal judge has rescheduled a sentencing hearing for a former Oklahoma senator who resigned and pleaded guilty to wire fraud and filing a false tax return.
U.S. District Judge Claire Eagan on Monday rescheduled the hearing of Republican former Sen. Rick Brinkley of Owasso. A sentencing hearing was set for Jan. 22 but was postponed until March 4 at the request of Brinkley's defense attorney, Mack Martin, following the death of his father.
Brinkley acknowledged in federal court in August that he stole $1.8 million from the Better Business Bureau of Tulsa. Brinkley had been president and CEO of the nonprofit from 1999 to 2011 and its chief operating officer from June 1, 2011, until he was fired on April 26.
