TULSA – New details surrounding the stabbing of a 3-year-old during a domestic altercation have prompted officials to charge not only the man believed to be responsible but the mother of the child as well.

Levi Cartwright, 33, was arrested after attempting to stab his girlfriend, says Tulsa police, by throwing a knife in her direction but ultimately hitting her 3-year-old son.

The child was taken to a nearby hospital in serious condition.

A felony charge for child neglect has been filed for Cartwright and now, police say, the mother and girlfriend, Jamie Tillack, faces the same charge.

Through an investigation, detectives discovered that while Tillack, 24, did not directly hurt the child, she also did not summon for help immediately. Instead, investigators say, the pair spent time “coming up with a cover story” to explain why the child was injured.

When the child received care for the wounds, medical officials say, he also tested positive for methamphetamine.

Investigators searched the apartment where the child was allegedly hurt and discovered 42.5 grams of methamphetamine, 3.5 grams of heroin, 38.3 grams of marijuana, and 3 handguns.

Additional charges have been added for the pair: trafficking meth, possession of controlled dangerous substance, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and knowingly concealing stolen property.
