KIEFER, Okla. --  "How did he get to this town? Is he from here? I don't know that person," said Resident Heather Keys.

20 year-old Bradley Hill is now behind bars after police said he tried kidnapping an infant from a Kiefer family home this morning.

A parents nightmare, according to resident Heather Keys.

"It's crazy to think that this could happen in this town," said Keys.

Police said Hill made his way into the home near Jeanette street, through an unlocked door.

"The father had been awakened by noises. He goes to investigating the noises, thinking that a raccoon or a cat or something has gotten into his house," said Kiefer Police Chief Johnny O'Mara.

Officers said when the father went to check on his one year-old son, he saw a man he had never seen before hovering over his baby's crib. They said that's when the father jumped into action.

"He grabbed ahold of the man, puts him in a bear hug and drags him out of the room," said O'Mara.

Police said the baby's mother called 911 as the father kept Hill constrained until police arrived. The suspect was then taken into custody. Officers said Hill admitted to police, he wanted to take the baby but he thought the child belonged to a different family.

"He believed that he was at somebody else's house and he had intended to take another persons child and coincidence led to a different child being at this residence and he was going to take that child until the father came in and he realized this is not the father of the child that I'm wanting to take," said O'Mara.

Although police said the attempted abduction is rare for Kiefer, Keys said she's keeping her kids close.

"With my kids, my friends kids or just anybody's kids you're always going to be over protective regardless, but this makes you a little more anxious here at home," said Keys.
