TULSA – The civil rights lawsuit involving the current Tulsa sheriff and the former sheriff is now being allowed to go forward.

The lawsuit against Tulsa County centers on the death of an inmate, 37-year-old Elliot Williams, in 2011. Prosecutors claim he died after lying naked on the jail floor for 51 hours without access to food, water or medical care.

In 2013, a video showing the death of Williams was released. After viewing the video, a federal judge mandated this week that the video is admissible in the case, along with prior reviews or audits showing problems in the jail.
