Oklahoma City helicopter pilot describes Shawnee tornado destruction after storms

OKLAHOMA CITY - An Oklahoma City helicopter pilot covering the Sunday storms tells 2NEWS what he saw after tornadoes near Shawnee damaged around 30 homes.

Jon Welsh was covering the tornadoes for KFOR, an NBC affiliate in Oklahoma City, when he witnessed the destruction from above.

"Everything was just, it was just gone. You see beds in the yard. Everything was just like you took the house, you put it in a gigantic blender, you turned it on pulse for couple minutes, and then you just dumped it out. So everything was spread out everywhere," Welsh said.

Governor Mary Fallin declared a state of emergency for 16 counties, including Pottawattamie County.  She's expected to tour the damage Monday.
