Local police worry about future cuts

TULSA - Local law enforcement officials are worried that cuts in everything from defense spending to aviation and food inspections could trickle down and affect public safety.

"It could be a trickle down effect that it's going to eventually affect the Tulsa Police Department or the Tulsa Fire Department, or anybody in this capacity, but it may not trickle enough, but you never know," said Officer Craig Murray, traffic safety coordinator for Tulsa police.

Congress and the president have until March 1 to create a deficit reduction package, or $1.2 trillion in cuts will take place before 2021.
