Oklahoma teen, 14-year-old Jennifer Respicio, arrested for 1st-degree murder in infant son's death

DEL CITY, Okla. - An Oklahoma teen is behind bars in connection with her infant's death, police say.

Jennifer Respicio, 14 of Del City, was arrested for first-degree murder and booked into the Oklahoma County Jail, accused of killing 7-month-old Jaiden Respicio.

Del City Police Lt. Brian Wofford told our Oklahoma City NBC affiliate KFOR-TV officers were called around 7 a.m. Sunday in regard to an unresponsive child.

Less than an hour later Jaiden Respicio was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

"The doctor examining the child determined that it appeared to be a child abuse case and notified our police department," Wofford told KFOR.

While the state medical examiner will determine the official cause and manner of death, Wofford said doctors believe the child died from blunt force trauma.

Wofford told KFOR Jennifer Respicio threw her son against a crib.

"The child was obviously struck by something hard in the stomach area," Wofford told KFOR.  "Basically, she was angry at the time and that anger led to those injuries.

Respicio lived with her mother and sister where the abuse allegedly occurred, said Wofford.
