The Oklahoma Corporation Commission released an preliminary report into the gas rig explosion in Quinton.

The OCC provided 2 Works For You the report after filing an Oklahoma Open Records Act request.

According to the report, an employee tried to shut off the well.

Investigators said a third party company was able to come in and shut the well off almost seven hours after the explosion.

The OCC said there was some contamination of nearby country roads from diesel fuel and drilling fluids.

The report said the OCC recommends the companies involved to 'kill the well' and plug it with heavy drilling and mud in the mean time.

OCC said in the report that it wants a soil sample submitted no later than the end of February.
