North Tulsa home destroyed in Wednesday morning blaze

TULSA - Fire destroyed a home in north Tulsa Wednesday morning.

According to Tulsa fire officials, the fire department received a call from a neighbor around 10:15 a.m. reporting the blaze at the home near N. Pine and Union Avenue.

At first, neighbors like Cheryl Sheehan believed a couple and their three foster kids were inside the home because the family's vehicles were still parked in the driveway.

But firefighters were able to determine that no one was inside the house. Firefighters extinguished the fire in about an hour.

One of the homeowners later told 2NEWS they were in Muskogee for her husband's outpatient surgery. The family had traveled to Muskogee in another vehicle than the ones in the driveway, she said.

She said the cause of the fire is likely old wiring.

The homeowner says while the loss of the home is devastating, she and her family are thankful no one was hurt.

The American Red Cross is offering assistance to the family.
