Mass shootings have been happening all across the country for years, the most recent incidents taking place in El Paso, Texas, Dayton, Ohio, Gilroy, California.

Christine Jackson, the State chapter leader for Moms Demand Action, tells us “after those shootings happened we just knew it was time and we needed to make sure that we were speaking out and asking for lawmakers to make a difference”.

The Tulsa chapter for Moms Demand Action held a rally today in response.

The group hopes to bring attention to demand the Senate take action on passing common sense gun laws.

At the rally many people that attended wrote postcards to Senator Mitch McConnel, and signed a referendum petition to stop permitless carry in Oklahoma.

Jackson, says the bigger issue is the hundreds of Americans lost to gun violence everyday, she says she feels like it's time for the Senate to take action.

Jackson tells us, "We would love for the Senate to come back from their August recess and act with not only background checks but red flag laws. And know that those laws are the foundation for better gun safety in this country”.

Jackson says the gun violence in America causes trauma for those involved and affects entire communities, saying we must do better as Americans.
