Bridge construction means changes for Tulsa drivers

TULSA - Construction means changes for drivers near downtown Tulsa.

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation says crews are building a new eastbound I-244 bridge over the Arkansas River.

While the work is being done the westbound bridge will handle both east and westbound traffic.

A number of ramps are also closed:

-- East and westbound I-244 narrowed to two lanes across the Arkansas River bridge

-- Southbound US-75/westbound US-64/SH-51 ramp to westbound I-244/southbound US-75 (south leg to
Arkansas River)

-- The southbound US-75/westbound US-64/SH-51 on-ramp from Denver Avenue

-- Eastbound I-244 ramp to 7th St.

-- Westbound I-244 ramp to eastbound US-64/SH-51 (west leg to south leg)

-- Westbound US-64/SH-51 ramp to eastbound I-244/westbound US-64/SH-51 (south leg to west leg)

-- Eastbound I-244 ramp to northbound US-75/eastbound US-64/SH-51 (Arkansas River bridge to south leg) diverted to the closed ramp just to the north normally used for southbound US-75/westbound US-64/SH-51 to westbound I-244/southbound US-75. Use caution as traffic adjusts to the reverse ramp flow.

The work should be finished by Spring of 2015.
