Authorities investigating bomb threat at Cherokee County Courthouse, courthouse evacuated

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. - The Cherokee County Courthouse in Tahlequah was evacuated Wednesday morning after a bomb threat was received.

Undersheriff Jason Chennault said a court clerk received a suspicious phone call about a bomb inside the building around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The clerk immediately alerted authorities who told everyone to evacuate, Chennault said.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol searched for possible explosives, and before noon the building was given the all clear.

The courthouse will reopen at 1 p.m.
