TULSA -- The man accused of driving under suspension and killing another driver tested positive in court Thursday for drugs.
Taylor Harvey is out on bond since the March 2017 crash that killed husband and father, Steve Freking.
During his preliminary hearing, a judge ordered Harvey submit to a drug test.
When the results came back, the judge announced he tested positive for methamphetamine, cocaine, amphetamines and THC.
"If killing someone isn't a reason to get your life changed around, to do something different, I don't know what is," widow Micayla Freking said. "I don't know what it will take for Mr. Harvey to get his life cleaned up to not want to do drugs anymore."
Harvey was arrested on the spot in court.
His bond was set at $100,000. The judge said if he is able to meet bail, he will not be able to drive a car and will have to wear an ankle monitor.
"I don't want this to happen to anyone else, so if that is something that can prevent that, then yeah I am glad," Micayla Freking said.
About a year after the crash, Harvey was ticketed for driving with a revoked license. That charge was dropped in traffic court this week. Court documents show he was able to provide proof that he now has a valid license.
"The day he was driving and killed Steve, he did not have a valid driver's license," Micayla Freking said. "And killing someone... how do you get back your driver's license? I don't understand how that could have happened. I thought it would have been revoked after that."
The Department of Public Safety said 115 fatal crashes in Oklahoma in 2017 involved someone driving under suspension. That is about 18-percent of all fatal crashes in the state last year.
Harvey is due back in court later this month.
