Kansas City police officer in hot water for fake Michael Brown post

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - An officer is under fire after venting on social media about the recent shooting death of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo.

The Kansas City police officer's post on social media included a photo of a man the officer claimed was Brown.

But according to KCTV, the person is actually an accused killer from Oregon, not Brown.

Officer Marc Catron of the Kansas City Police Department posted "I'm sure young Michael Brown is innocent and just misunderstood."

Another post states, "Remember how white people rioted after OJ's acquittal? Me neither."

Some residents said it made them uncomfortable.

The police department's social media policy prohibits employees from posting anything biased against any race, religion or protected class of individuals.

KCTV identified the person in the photo with the wad of money as Joda Cain, one of two people accused of using a sledge hammer to kill his great grandfather in Oregon.
