TULSA - 2 Works for You and co-sponsor the Richardson, Richardson, Boudreaux Law Firm and Rib Crib are hosting a one day Food 2 Families food drive along with the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma right in front of the 2 Works for You studios on June 1st.

The mission is to collect food for needy veterans throughout the area.  Proceeds will benefit local veterans’ charities such as BRRX4VETS and The Coffee Bunker in association with The Food Bank.

Due to the overwhelming support from our community, the Food 2 Families drive has broken collection records since it began 15 years ago and continues to be one of the top three food drives benefiting the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma.

2 Works for You anchors, reporters and volunteers from the Community Food Bank, as well as other special guests will be curbside at the 2 Works for You studios accepting donations Wednesday, June 1st from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

2 Works for You is located at 37th and Peoria.

These are the types of food most in demand:

  • Canned meat
  • Packaged, non-perishable meals
  • Soups
  • Peanut Butter
  • Pasta/sauce

“This community is passionate about our veterans,” said Donna Wilson, vice president and general manager for 2 Works for You. “We are anxious to help these veterans’ organizations by focusing the next Food 2 Families event on raising awareness and collecting much-needed staples.”

2 Works for You will be highlighting BRRX4VETS and The Coffee Bunker during news segments throughout the day.

The Richardson, Richardson, Boudreaux Law Firm is happy to help sponsor the food drive.

"Our law firm is about people serving people and our motto is, 'People, Purpose, Passion,'" says Gary Richardson. "It's great to be able to assist the veterans that we respect so much as to what they've done for our country."

BRRX4Vets is a rapid re-housing program funded by the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) grant. BRRX4Vets uses the housing first model to provide temporary intervention and short term assistance to low-income veteran families who are homeless or facing eviction.

The Coffee Bunker offers a wide range of programs, from Arts & Crafts to Fighting Addiction support groups. Each day up to 90 veterans and service members drop by Coffee Bunker to get together, use computers, access Wi-Fi, enjoy games and group activities, watch television or just hang out.
