Tulsa, Broken Arrow police monitoring school zones as districts begin new year

TULSA - School is back in session for Tulsa Public Schools Wednesday and Broken Arrow students head back Thursday.

Police in both communities are issuing a warning about increased traffic accidents this time of year.

Tulsa police have a zero tolerance policy for drivers who don't obey traffic signs in school zones or near buses.

Speeding and distracted driving have increased penalties in school zones.

BA police are implementing "Operation Safe Streets," putting more officers on the road to watch for violators.

Tulsa police will also have officers out in full force watching for anyone who may put kids at risk.
