TULSA - An 11-year-old has been arrested in a shooting at a south Tulsa apartment complex near 79th Street and South Sheridan Avenue.
Police say a 50-year-old woman was shot in the back of the head around 4 p.m. Monday at Ridgemont Apartments.
Detectives told 2NEWS the woman's 11-year-old grandson was in the apartment at the time of the shooting.
Police say after the shooting, he ran out of the apartment while his grandmother was still conscious but in need of help. The victim called 911.
After questioning the boy, police arrested him on a complaint of shooting with intent to kill.
The woman was conscious and speaking to police before being transported to Saint Francis Hospital. Police said her injuries were non-life threatening.
"There was a higher power involved. God was looking after her today, that's for sure," said Sgt. Marcus Harper of Tulsa Police Department.
Tulsa police have yet to locate the gun, which they say the boy found in a drawer in his grandmother's room.
