Massachusetts student needs help when tongue freezes to pole

EASTHAMPTON, Mass. - No, you really don't want to try licking a metal pole when it's well below freezing.

Massachusetts firefighters had come to the rescue when an Easthampton middle school student's tongue froze to a pole.

Officials aren't releasing the name or gender of the White Brook Middle School student.

Fire Chief David Mottor tells a local paper (The Republican) rescuers freed the student's tongue by pouring warm water on it.

No word, though, if the tongue stunt was done on a triple-dog dare like in the movie "A Christmas Story."
